How James Ebenezer Blythe Relates to the
Heresy of Decisional Regeneration

break

James Ebenezer Blythe (1765-1842) was one of the many Presbyterian preachers at the Cane Ridge Presbyterian Sacramental Meeting. He is mentioned scores of times in Lyle's 1801 Diary. Like all the Presbyterian ministers at the Cane Ridge meeting, Blythe was educated in Scottish Common Sense Realism, but learned a more orthodox salvation theology when he studied under John Blair Smith (a Bellamite) at Hampden-Sydney college, graduating in 1788. He later studied theology under the direction of the Presbyterian minister James Hall, who educated many of the Presbyterian ministers at the Cane Ridge Meeting.
